Dr.David L. Benson
Dr. David L. Benson was born in Blackfoot, ID and raised in Provo, UT where he attended and graduated from Provo High School. He then served a 2 year LDS mission to Cochabamba, Bolivia before returning home to attend BYU. He received his B.S. degree in 1990 from BYU in Animal Science. While at BYU he met and married Leslianne Caldwell and they are now the parents of 5 children, one son-in-law, one grandson, and a golden retriever, Simba. In 1995 he received his Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (DVM) degree from Colorado State University. He is a member of the Spanish National Honor Society (Sigma Delta Pi) and the Veterinary National Honor Society (Phi Zeta), the American Veterinary Medical Association (AVMA), the Utah Veterinary Medical Association (UVMA), and the Salt Lake Veterinary Medical Association (SLVMA).
Following graduation he worked in two practices in Banning and 29 Palms, CA for 5 years before returning to Utah in 2000.
Outside of veterinary medicine he enjoys being with his family and watching or playing most sports. He also enjoys studying various languages but is currently only fluent in Spanish—and English—and reading biographies and non-fiction historical accounts of WWII and the Revolutionary War.
Kasandra Pedersen (Veterinary Technician)
Kasandra has been a veterinary technician since 2008. She got her associates degree from Weber State University and her vet tech license from Utah Career College. She has worked at West Lake Animal Hospital since Dr Benson bought the practice in 2012. When not working Kasandra enjoys rock climbing and spending time with her family. Her and her husband have two handsome boys, a pitbull mix, and a cat.
Katrina Trimble (Veterinary Technician)
Katrina has been a veterinary technician since 2000. She loves pets of all kinds but is partial to dogs and horses. In her spare time she loves reading and spending time outdoors in the summer with friends and family. She and her husband have two beautiful girls and an adorable border collie mix named Annie.
Jennifer Larsen (Veterinary Technician)
Jennifer graduated from Utah Career College with her Associate of Applied Science in Veterinary Technology in 2004. She has been working as a Certified Veterinary Technician ever since and has loved working at West Lake since 2012. She enjoys patient care, client
education, and using her technical skills. Jennifer likes baseball, being in the mountains, and spending time with her husband, two daughters, and cat.
Jodi Rueckert (Veterinary Technician)
Jodi has enjoyed being a veterinary technician since 2006. She has worked for Dr Benson since 2016. Jodi graduated from Utah Valley University with a full ride volleyball scholarship. She has 3 beautiful grown up human babies and 2 adorable fur babies. Outside of her love for working with and around animals she also enjoys fishing on her pontoon, hiking the beautiful mountains of Utah, and taking long adventure road trips.
Crystal Roy (Receptionist)
Crystal has a huge heart for animals. In 2004 she started grooming dogs while in high school. In 2014 she began as a veterinary receptionist. She has worked in small animal, emergency, and specialty departments. When Crystal is not working she enjoys being with her two sons: Brody and Parker. She has a Chihuahua mix named Kara who loves to play fetch, and a shih tzu mix named Charlie who loves to be carried like a baby.
Sierra Bingham (Receptionist)
Sierra has loved and wanted to work with animals since she was little. Growing up she participated in 4-H, F.F.A., and volunteered at a vet clinic where she was hired for her first job. Sierra has 4 dogs and a cat. She also loves to collect and listen to a wide genre of vinyl records, loves all things Great Britain, and hopes to travel there someday.
